How we got here
We didn’t invent geothermal. We redesigned the economics.
After three decades building oil and gas companies, Rodatherm founder and CEO Curtis Cook came to geothermal with a different outlook.
In oil and gas, scalable growth came from repeatable development: drill productive wells, generate cash flow quickly, leverage that income into the next project, and scale efficiently over time. Geothermal projects were historically, by contrast, complex, water-intensive, and slow to scale—limiting their impact on the grid despite Earth’s abundant heat.
Rodatherm was founded to bring a new scaling model to geothermal, with a waterless, physics-driven system that’s designed and deployed with proven industrial and drilling technology. We’re advancing geothermal for rapid electricity delivery, lower operating cost and complexity, and broader global potential to bring clean, firm power to a grid that needs it, fast.
Meet the team
Geothermal by a team who knows how energy scales
Our leadership team has spent their careers in energy infrastructure, drilling, and operations, where execution matters most.
Curtis Cook is the Founder and CEO of Rodatherm Energy. A seasoned entrepreneur and engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry, Curtis previously founded and led Vesta Energy, building it into one of Canada’s leading shale oil companies with an asset value exceeding $1 billion.
Throughout his career, Curtis has successfully founded, grown, and financed multiple energy ventures, combining technical expertise with a proven track record of innovation and leadership. He is dedicated to advancing geothermal as a scalable solution for the future of global energy.
Sue Vuong serves as Corporate Controller at Rodatherm Energy, overseeing the company’s financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls. With over 25 years of experience in financial management and corporate governance at Vesta Energy, Nabors and Deloitte, she plays a key role in supporting Rodatherm’s growth and strategic objectives. Sue is committed to maintaining strong financial stewardship while advancing the company’s mission to deliver innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
George Protopappas is Director of Engineering at Rodatherm Energy, where he leads the development and execution of innovative geothermal energy projects. With more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry, he brings expertise in engineering, project development, and operations from Bantrel, SNC-Lavalin and Inter Pipeline. George’s experience in large projects and modularization has advanced Rodatherm’s scalability in delivering reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
Shane Engelking is Drilling Manager at Rodatherm Energy where he leads the drilling program for all geothermal projects. He brings over 35 years of operational drilling expertise from Vesta Energy, EOG and PennWest, including the successful planning and execution of more than 170 extended-reach horizontal wells to depths of up to 23,000 feet. He is recognized for his ability to improve performance, reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and deliver high-quality drilling outcomes on large-scale energy projects.
Michael Dabbs is Vice President, Land at Rodatherm Energy, where he leads land strategy and acquisition to support the company’s geothermal development projects. He has over 30 years of experience in energy infrastructure permitting across North America and was the environmental assessment lead on the Alliance Pipeline. He specializes in land management, negotiations, and building strong relationships with landowners and industry partners. Michael plays a key role in advancing Rodatherm’s mission to deliver innovative, secure energy solutions.
Our investors
Backed by leaders in climate and energy
Already in the ground. Ready to grow.
Executing on our multi-GW pipeline in Utah, today
We’ve built a land position representing gigawatts of energy potential across Utah’s Wasatch corridor and broader Great Basin formations. We’re moving fast to deliver energy to these regions where electricity demand is rising rapidly while water and land resources are becoming increasingly constrained.
Our advantage is knowing how to bring proven drilling, subsurface, and power-generation technologies together in a new way—creating a geothermal platform designed for speed, strong economics, and infrastructure scale.
For landowners
Land partnerships that create lasting value
We’re growing our land footprint across the US Great Basin, creating opportunity for local landowners to earn income while participating in the next generation of energy infrastructure.
Our projects are intentionally low impact, bringing faster deployment with fewer tradeoffs for local communities. It’s a partnership model designed to create lasting value, for the grid, for the region, and for the people.
Working with us means
Each Rodatherm pad occupies less than five acres of surface area.
No water withdrawal, no produced water, no injection wells, and no competition for increasingly constrained water resources.
Projects get approved swiftly under the same regulatory frameworks that govern oil and gas operations.
Work with us
Partner with us to redefine how firm renewable power is built and delivered for generations to come.
Rodatherm works with landholders, utilities, municipalities, and industrial operators seeking reliable energy infrastructure with minimal resource disruption. The opportunity ahead is bigger than any one project.
