How it works

Mature engineering, applied in an innovative, new way

Organic Refrigerant, Not Water

Organic, non-corrosive, low GWP refrigerant used instead of water as the working fluid. It flows down as a cool liquid and vaporizes naturally at depth, rising to drive a turbo expander.

One Moving Part

The turbo expander is the system’s only moving part. Mature, reliable, low-maintenance, and designed to run for 40+ years.

Horizontal Drilling in Permeable Rock

Our system works in permeable basins, using horizontal drilling techniques already proven in industrial energy applications.

The horizontal drilling, modular pad development, and advanced well architecture that define our system were refined over decades before we brought them to geothermal.

Rodatherm’s first pilot project is underway in Milford, Utah, with first electrons targeted for late 2026.
